Due to enormous interest in the Mental Wellness Book Club’s discussions of The Body Keeps the Score by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, the Mental Wellness Task Force is excited to host an additional opportunity for faculty and staff to discover what Dr. van der Kolk has to say about the long-term effects of trauma and the ways we can manage it.

At this (bring your own) brown bag lunch event, a professional broadcast interview will be presented in which Dr. van der Kolk explains what trauma looks and feels like, and describes some successful trauma treatment modalities.

Following the 30-minute video, speakers from Pitt’s Wellness for Life program, UPMC Health Plan, and Life Solutions will explain how to access the treatments that Dr. van der Kolk describes.
